Reader’s Question:
I got into a car accident in St. Joseph, Missouri, a couple of weeks ago. And there was no police around to do the report. Can I still make claims on my car insurance?
Barbara
St. Joseph, MO
Hi, Barbara. Sure you can still file for your claims. You see, these insurance companies set a time frame with which you can file your claim with them, and this is regardless of whether you have a police report or you don’t have a police report. Now then, if you are lucky enough, and I will bet you are because that has almost always been the case, there are those insurance firms that will even allow you to file your claims from six months to at most one year after the incident happened. Just to be sure, please go check with your local insurance agent in St. Joseph, Missouri or go read on Missouri’s regulations on the length of time they will allow late claims for accidents without an accompanying police report because they could of course vary from state to state, as the case may be. You can also check Missouri’s Bureau of Motor Vehicles. As for now, you can already starting making your own report by recounting the events of that day, how you got into the accident and why there was no police report. There are no guarantees of a successful claim, unfortunately. It is ultimately the insurance company’s discretion if your claim with no police report is valid or not.
Good luck Barbara!

Missouri MO DWI Question
Reader’s Question:
I have a clean driving record but if ever I get pulled over by a police officer due to DWI in Missouri, what can you advise me to do?
Pat
Kansas City, MO
Your curiosity actually serves you right. It is important to cooperate with the arresting officer if you’re stopped for DWI (Driving while intoxicated). Do what he asks of you to do. Your behavior will definitely be a consideration when your case is brought to the court.
Missouri has an “implied consent” law, which means that upon getting a driver’s license, a person has implicitly agreed to take a chemical test if suspected of DWI. If the Breathalyzer test is refused, the refusal may be taken as a crime separate to DWI, his driving privilege will be suspended for a year, and it can be treated as admission of his own guilt.
If you hired a Missouri DWI lawyer early enough, he could possibly file a petition for review of your license suspension in the Circuit Court. A 30-day limit is set for doing this, counting from the day of your arrest.
Lastly, I would suggest calling an experienced Missouri DWI lawyer as soon as you can. In Missouri , drunk driving laws change every month or so. A DWI lawyer can watch out for time limits, speak for you when necessary, negotiate for you, complete and file all the paperwork correctly, and fight for you interests in general.

Reader question:
What sort of factors are taken into consideration when rating my St Louis Missouri SR22 auto insurance policy?
Julianne
Thanks for asking, julianne.
Car insurance companies do extensive studies on just about everything, tracking the claims made among different demographic groups, people with certain characteristics, and so on. A lot of their ratings make sense, although some seem downright nonsensical. Some you can control, and some you can’t. Here are a few of the controllable and uncontrollable factors which might affect the cost of your St Louis Missouri SR22 policy. Take particular focus on the controllable ones: once you have those under your thumb, then the others don’t seem like such a big deal.
Okay, okay, NOW here they are:
- Marital status
- your age
- Gender
- The kind of car you own
- How much you drive said car
- Where you park that car
- How well you drive that car
- Insurance history

Reader question:
Can I pay my Springfield Missouri SR22 premium a couple of days late without getting my driver’s license suspended?
Janis
Thanks for asking, Janis.
It depends on the company that you’re buying your Springfield Missouri SR22 insurance with, really. Some companies are more lenient than others, and while some will have their fingers on the send button for your SR-26 cancellation the second the minute hand hits midnight of the day after your due date, others will give you as much as 15, or even 30 days to get your act together.
Just because a Springfield Missouri SR22 insurance company might be understanding doesn’t mean it’s a saint, though. It’s likely that after you start missing payments, they’re going to read you the rules: if you want to stay with us, then you’re going to have to allow us to draft your car insurance premiums out of your bank account a few days before your due date every month. Then you have no choice but to pay.
Even worse, if you prove unreliable, then when your premium is done and you have to renew, your Springfield Missouri SR22 auto insurane company might just not renew your policy, and you’ll be stuck looking for coverage elsewhere.

Reader question:
Okay, I’m not sure if I read this wrong, but is it true that women get to pay less for Kansas City Missouri SR22 car insurance than men do? Isn’t that discrimination?
Brad
Thanks for the interesting question, Brad.
The answer to your first is yes and no. It’s not quite as simplified as that. Women do not always pay less for Kansas City Missouri SR22 insurance, even when controlling for such factors as driving record, credit history, and so on. Really, the only time in your life where you will be paying more than a woman because of your gender is before you turn 25. During that time, you are at your riskiest point and are paying your highest rates. Women’s insurance at that age tends to caust only around 3/4 the amount that male drivers pay.
Why, you might ask? Well, the reason that the car insurance companies justify having young women pay less for Kansas City Missouri SR22 coverage than young men, and say that it is not sexual discrimination, is that they have many studies that back of the fact that women simply get into accidents and file claims less often than men. Not only do they crash less frequently, but also less seriously.
This difference is changing, though, as we see a rise of accidents among women and a drop among men. There might be insurance rates equality in the near future.

Reader question:
I have been with this company for years, but when I had to get Independence Missouri SR22 insurance, my rates just went crazy. Why shouldn’t I get some kind of benefit for being a long time client?
Mary
Thanks for asking, Mary.
That must be incredibly frustrating. I can see where your coming from. Your problem, though, isn’t that you have been you are missing some benefit that you are entitled to for being a good client, but that you have become institutionalized. That is to say, you have become to attached to a single company, and that is seriously getting in the way of your ability to pay excellent low rates on Independence Missouri SR22 auto insurance coverage.
People who have Independence Missouri SR22 insurance should be checking their car insurance policies at least once a year. At this time they need to look over it, make sure nothing has changed, all information is correct and necessary. Most of all, though, they need to look at quotes from other companies. Even if a company has treated you well, if you can find good service and better quotes elsewhere, then you need to ditch it.

Reader question:
I want to be completely prepared when I get into an accident, because I have a Columbia Missouri SR22 policy and don’t want to get it canceled. Can you give me some tips?
Jackie
Thanks for your question, Jackie.
First of all, I want to point out that it is pretty unlikely that you will have your Columbia Missouri SR22 insurance policy right out canceled after one accident. Most companies allow you accident forgiveness, and even then usually the only thing they can do is wait until your policy ends and then decide not to renew it. Still, I’ll give you a hand.
- Always take along with you a throw away camera. This is so you can snap photos of the accident, which may be necessary to prove that you were not at fault later on.
- Bring a notebook, too–you’ll need the name, phone number, and insurance information, driver’s license number, license plate number, and so on of the person you get into the accident with.
- You’re also going to need to write the names and numbers of any witnesses in that notebook so that you can have more help on your and your Columbia Missouri SR22 company’s side.
Cheers,
Fashun Guadarrama.
